Yosef Nevo was an officer of Haganah and a commander of light tanks during the battle of Jerusalem in 1948. He played a distinguished role defending the Israeli positions against the powerful forces of the Arab Legion in the heart of Jerusalem, and was able to inflict heavy losses to the ennemies, thus contributing to their decision to concentrate their forces out of Jerusalem.
