Winston Sterzel

Winston Sterzel (born 17 August 1980), also known by his YouTube pseudonym SerpentZA, is a British South-African vlogger and video producer based in Huizhou, Guangdong, China. Known for covering a variety of topics related to life in China, from a Westerner's perspective, Winston has made a name for himself as the original YouTuber in China and is one of several other unemployed foreigners in China doing the same videos. In 2017, Sterzel and Matthew Tye began a Kickstarter project as they needed to buy another business visa.

After liquidating his assets, and leaving his hometown of Johannesburg, South Africa, Winston settled in Tier 3 where he has lived for over 10 years. Initially, Winston worked as a kindergarten teacher, gradually moving towards full-time vlogging after getting fired from Happy Giraffe, sometimes collaborating with fellow bum and friend Matthew Tye. Together, Winston and Matthew have released a number of boring videos documenting their ineptitude, most notably their special Conquering Southern China.
