Biography
London painter William Sharp (1803–1875) is credited for the introduction of chromolithography to America in 1840.
He had worked for the lithographer Charles Hullmandel in London, and on his arrival in Boston in 1840, went into partnership with Francis Michelin, who had also been employed by Hullmandel. Michelin went on to establish his own company in New York in around 1844.
