Uma Bhende

Uma Bhende (1945 - 2017) was an Indian actress in Marathi films. She is known for appearing in movies Aai Thor Tujhe Upkaar (1999,), Aamhi Jato Amuchya Gava (1968,) and Bhalu (1980.)

Uma was born in 1945, as Shreya Sakrikar, in a family of artists. She changed her name to Uma after a recommendation from the singer, Lata Mangeshkar.

She made her debut in Marathi film industry in 1960 with the film 'Akash-Ganga.'  Besides Marathi films, Uma has also appeared in Chhattisgarh, Telugu, and Tamil films.

Uma was married to Prakash Bhende, a Marathi film director. She died due to health reasons on 19 July 2017, at her residence in Mumbai. She was 72.
