Biography
Tooraj Khamenehzadeh (Persian: تورج خامنه زاده; born 1977, Qazvin, Iran) is a visual artist, curator currently living in Tehran. He graduated in 2002 with a B.S. in computer engineering/software from Azad University. Khamenehzadeh has contributed to his cultural identity with an innovative and critical body of work. Over the past years, by attending a number of artists’ workshops and accepting residencies in Sri Lanka, India, Ghana, Pakistan, and China, he has tried to expand his knowledge of contemporary art trends in different countries.
Khamenehzadeh has shown his photographs, videos and installation works in various festivals and exhibitions nationally and internationally. His last solo show, “Apprehension Jungle”, was held in Mohsen gallery, Tehran. Khamenehzadeh is co-founder and a member of the board of directors of Rybon Art Center, an independent art institute in Tehran. As a curator, he has been on the curatorial team of the first and second Rybon international artists’ workshop (2012-16), the first and second exchange programs between Iran and China (2013–15), the visual dialogue between Switzerland and Iran (2013), and has collaborated on the photographic book “Evident and Latent” (2014).
Besides his ongoing art projects, Khamenehzadeh is currently working as the curator of the Kooshk Residency as well as a board member of Res Artis.
