Biography
Thomas Halas (born July 9, 1999) is a Canadian soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for the Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer. He signed a contract with the Whitecaps on March 7, 2019.
Born in Cambridge, Ontario, Thomas joined the Whitecaps FC Saskatchewan Academy Centre in 2013. In 2016 he joined the Club’s U-18 Side and moved to Vancouver.
After joining the developmental academy Thomas started in 23 games and an additional 8 playoff games. In 2016 Thomas led the U-19 team to the Academy Championship Semifinals.
Professional career

On March 7, 2019 the Vancouver Whitecaps signed Thomas as a goalkeeper from the Whitecaps FC Saskatchewan Academy Centre. Thomas Hasal signed through the 2020 Season, with club options for the 2021 and 2022 Seasons.
Thomas Hasal became the first player signed from the Whitecaps U-23 development team and the 4 teenage Academy soccer player signed onto the roster.
International career
Thomas represented the Canada at the U-18, U-20 and U-23 levels.
Thomas Hasal was 17 years old when he made his debut for the Canadian youth program in 2016. In 2017 Thomas represented Canada in the CONCACAF men’s U-20 Championship which took place in San Jose, Costa Rica. In 2018, Thomas represented Canada in the CONCACAF U-20 Championship which took place in the U.S.
Thomas had 2 clean sheets in five total starts for Canada throughout both of the Championships.
Personal life
Thomas was born in Cambridge, Ontario. His family later moved to Alberta, Canada and then settled in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Before joining the Whitecaps youth system, Thomas played one year with the Saskatoon Club “Aurora SC”
