Therese Birkelund Ulvo

Therese Birkelund Ulvo (born 24 November 1982 in Bergen) is a Norwegian contemporary composer and music producer.
Ulvo studied composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with teachers such as Lasse Thoresen, Peter Tornquist, and Diana Burrell.
Ulvo composes in close dialogue with performers and focuses on how this exchange of ideas with other musicians can supplement the written score. Her music is also inspired by other art fields, such as film, text and sound art. From 2010 to 2012, Ulvo was a participant of the INTRO Composer international launch programme hosted by the MIC Music Information Centre Norway. 2015 saw her winning the Youth Lindeman Prize. Ulvo has also composed the score for the 2013 Bergen International Festival premiere of the play Heilage Sunniva.
During the 63rd International Rostrum of Composers held in Wroclaw, Poland in May 2016, Ulvo's work Shadows and Shields was awarded a Recommended Works distinction in the general category, in which 11 works from across Europe are recommended for airplay in the competition's 30 participating countries.
