Biography
Sudarshan Gautam (Nepali: सुदर्शन गौतम; born in Nepal; 1978) is the first armless person to summit Mount Everest without the use of prosthetic. He reached the top of Mount Everest on May 20, 2013.
In 2001, Gautam became popular by driving a normal car in busy rode of Kathmandu Nepal.
Gautam is a citizen of Canada since 2007 and currently he is living in GTA Ontario. Gautam was born in Bhauduri, a village in Ramechhap District of Nepal. Soon after his moving with his parents to Kathmandu he had an accident with a live power cable that led to the amputation of both of his arms.
Gautam has passed the master degree from Nepal Commerce Campus Nepal by writing he feet . He has completed the diploma in computer science using not modify computer by his feet .
With his personal motto, "Disability is not an inability", he had reached the peaks of other mountains before, including Mount Ramdung at 5,925 metres (19,439 ft) and Mount Yala at 5,732 metres (18,806 ft). He climbed few other peak before he summit Mt Everest.
On June 30, 2013, NRN-Canada, the national organization of Nepali Diaspora in Canada honored him as an outstanding Nepali Diaspora member.
Ever since amputation of his both arms around 18 years ago, Gautam has learned to live a normal life performing everyday tasks on his own, using his feet in place of hands. Gautam is married and has one son.
Sudarshan Gautam has debuted as an actor in a 2014 Nepali movie titled Himmatwali featuring Nepali actress Rekha Thapa opposite to him. Sudarshan Gautam is honored by Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons Hall of Fame Canada awarded in 2014. He is an honored of Compelling Calgariens. Also, He was past Brand Ambassador of NRN Canada in 2014 to 2016.
He was connected romantically to Rekha Thapa in 2013, saying he might marry her in 2014. The Nepalese media reported in 2015 that they had defriended each other on Facebook. In 2016, he denied the romance ever existed, and it was just created as a publicity stunt for a film.
These days he is working on Nepali film titled Himmatwala ( A Brave Person) which is shooting in Canada. He recently announced to organize the Nepali Film Fair award in Canada in 2017 of January and it is happening first time in Canada. Sudarshan has just announced that he is preparing to climb Mt Logan (highest mountain of Canada) which is located in Yokun Canada in 2018 of May without both arms. He has plan to raise over 5 millions dollar to support amputee persons.
