Serbin Oleg Olegovych

• 2000-2004 - The Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, Department of Documentary Communications and International Information. Specialization:”An expert of bibliology, manager of publishing activity”, a red diploma.
• 2004-2007 - postgraduate study in The Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, The National Academy of Sciences.
• 2008 - he received a scientific degree of “Candidate of Historical Sciences” thesis subject “History, modern state and prospects of development of the library-bibliographic classifications in Ukraine”
• 2009-2010 - winner of a competition of projects of young scientists’ research works of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and receiving of grant of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to conduct a research work “Evolution of classifications of sciences and of the library-bibliographic classifications”.
• 2010-2012 - winner of the contest to receipt a grant of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for young scientists, grant holder of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
• 2012 - got the academic rank of “Senior Researcher”
• 2016 – received a scientific degree “Doctor of Social Communications” thesis subject “Library systematization of scientific information: theoretical and methodological principles of development”

• 2001 - a leading bibliographer of the department of State current bibliography guide in the Ivan Fedorov Book Chamber of Ukraine
• 2002-2004 - in the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts at the software engineer position of the book science and publishing activity department and later as a senior laboratory assistant of professional orientation work department
• 2003 - holds the post of researcher of the department of State current bibliography guide in the Ivan Fedorov Book Chamber of Ukraine
• 2004 – head of the department of State current bibliography guide in the Ivan Fedorov Book Chamber of Ukraine
• from April 2006 - The Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (VNLU) employee in the department of development and support of electronic catalog in the Center of computer technologies at positions of junior researcher as an acting researcher
• 2008 – a thesis defense to receipt a scientific degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences “History, modern state and prospects of development of the library-bibliographic classifications in Ukraine”
• 2009 – researcher of The Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine
• 2010 – in The Institute of Library Science of VNLU at a position of carrying out duties of a senior researcher. A monograph is published “Library and bibliographic classifications: historical evolution and current trends of development”
• 2011 - acting Head of the Department of systematization of VNLU
• 2013 – spearheads the department of the scientific processing of documents in The Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. Proceeds in teaching activity: a special course “Scientific classification” and “Modern systematization of information” on position of associate professor of the department of Bibliology and library science in The Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts
• from December 1, 2014 - Director of The Maksymovych Scientific Library of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv

From 2006 to 2014 he took an active part in scientific and organizational, methodological, cultural and educational work of VNLU, including working in structure of organizational committee of scientific conferences and working groups on the improvement of library processes. Since 2009 he was a vice-chairman of the trade-union committee and a vice-chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of The Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, since 2010 a Plenipotentiary Representative of The Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine as part of the Technical Committee of Standardization "Information and documentation" (TC 144) of the Ukrainian Institute of Scientific, Technical and Economic Information.

Since March 2015 a leader of The University Libraries Section of The Ukrainian Library Association

Serbin is engaged in the research of methodologies of creation and use of library-bibliographic classification systems, investigation of the evolution of classification systems, historical and technological evolution features of the systematic library catalogue, presentation of information retrieval languages in the Web-oriented systems, systematization of bibliographic information.
