Biography
Santoso Hoerip was a tennis player from Semarang, the Dutch East Indies. He was one of the best Indonesian tennis players in his era.
Career
In 1938 he became national doubles champion with his brother and national mixed doubles champion with his sister. In 1939 he became again national doubles champion.
Also after World War II he continued winning tennis Championships.
Hoerip was specialized in the volley tennis technique.
In 1953 he moved to Caïro where he worked at the Indonesian embassy.
Family
Hoerip came from a tennis family that founded the the Indonesian Lawn Tennis Association. Both his brothers Samboedjo Hoerip and his older brother Soemadi Hoerip and sister Soelastri Hoerip played tennis. At the 1938 and 1939 Java championships, most prizes were won by the Hoerip family.
