Biography
Samaya Clark-Gabriel (born October 1, 2009) is an American athlete known for her skills in basketball and soccer from the Brooklyn, New York area. Samaya has been recognized for her athletic abilities since the age of four years old.
In 2016, Gabriel was named “Athlete of the Year” for leading the Brooklyn Stars soccer team to their first championship. In addition to receiving several tournament titles, Samaya was presented with the Lion's Heart Award for demonstrating drive and skill against many all-boys teams. Since then, Gabriel has taken a break from soccer to focus her efforts more on basketball.
Gabriel was featured on Good Morning America, GoodDay NY, CBS Sports, USA Today, News 12 Brooklyn, Sports Center, ESPN, ESPNW, Chasing News, BRICTV, The NY Post, Fox5NY, Ruptly TV(Russia), Women You Should Know, Now This Her, Rolling Stone Magazine, and People.com Magazine. In addition to media features, Gabriel has practiced with NY Liberty Basketball team, played alongside The Harlem Globetrotters at Barclays Center in Brooklyn NY & Nassau Coliseum in Long Island NY in front 10,000 fans, and played 1 on 1 with NBA Legend and NY Liberty President Isiah Thomas.
When Samaya is not leading teams to championships, she is fundraising for St. Jude to support their lifesaving mission of finding cures for children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases. She was recognized for efforts by New York Governer Andrew Cuomo.
