Biography

Sally Lyndley is an American fashion stylist, design consultant, and fashion educator. She is a Contributing Editor for LOVE magazine and has worked with fashion icons including Victoria Beckham, Katie Grand and Marie-Amelie Sauve.

Early life

Dallas born Sally Lyndley got her start in the fashion industry at the age of 17, first as a model and then a stylist for the Dallas Morning News. After moving to New York City in 2000 she worked at fashion powerhouse KCD, producing shows for Chloe, Louis Vuitton, Versace and Zac Posen. It was there that Sally and Paris Vogue contributor Marie-Amelie Sauve first met and Marie-Amelie quickly hired Sally.

Fashion career

After working for Marie-Amelie in Paris, Sally moved to London and began collaborating with POP editor Katie Grand. Grand became a mentor to Sally, giving Sally the opportunity to shape her styling practice and point-of -view within the edgy pages of POP. Sally has said, “She gave me the freedom to do whatever I wanted, and to be as crazy as I could with my styling. She followed a mantra of the ‘crazier the better.’” At POP Sally styled many memorable editorials including covers featuring Drew Barrymore and Stephanie Seymour.

Since moving back stateside, Sally has maintained close ties to Ms. Grand and is a Contributing Editor to LOVE magazine (which Grand left POP to found), and has recently been credited as Fashion Editor At Large for LOVE. In addition to LOVE, Sally is a regular contributor to many high-end fashion magazines including US Vogue and Teen Vogue. She worked closely with Victoria Beckham on Victoria’s eponymous clothing line from 2009 to 2011.

Education career

Starting in Summer 2010, Sally became a contributor to the online insider fashion website fashionista.com; giving readers tips of the trade, the dos and don’ts of the styling business. Although this blog failed to reach any meaningful audience, she continues to try to find audience. It was on fashionista.com that Sally first announced her intention to begin hosting weekend seminars on the business of fashion. Aimed at stylists and their assistants, her education company, called assistStylist, is meant to give participants a firm foundation and the basics of building a strong, successful fashion styling business. Her first of many reoccurring seminars, "Introduction to Styling", was held January 8 and 9, 2011 at Splashlight Studios in Manhattan.
