Biography

Robin Foster is a English composer and guitarist. Previously guitarist in the band Beth (which became Moneypenny just before their split), Robin Foster started a solo career in 2006. Living in Brittany since 1997, he is progressively gaining popularity in France.

Biography

He's guitarist in the band Beth for 7 years and records several EPs and an album in 2000. During these years, Beth gathers sympathy from the public after playing opening parts of famous bands such as Dolly, Yann Tiersen, Venus, Dionysos, The Delgados or Kat Onoma. Beth changes its name to Monneypenny in 2003, and will rise in 2004, playing opening parts Placebo and The Kills tours, before splitting up a year later.

Foster starts to compose his own music, joined by other musicians in 2006.

His first solo album, Life Is Elsewhere is released on the label Last Exit Records in February 2008. Mainly instrumental, his first album receives awards from local french newspaper, Le Télégramme: the grand prix du disque du Télégramme in the "Best first album" category, and also the Grand prix du disque Produit en Bretagne in the "Prix Coup de Cœur" ("cheap-but-interesting prize") category. Oftenly described as post-rock, Foster's compositions become more and more popular, thanks to their frequent uses in TV shows and TV advertisings.

On the first single, Forgiveness, from his 2nd album, Where Do We Go From Here?(2001), Foster collaborates with English singer Dave Pen, from BirdPen and Archive.

In July 2012, Robin Foster creates his own label Queen Bee Music Publishing.

For his 3rd album, PenInsular, Robin Foster thought of it as a "local project" and used crowdfunding to produce it. Distributed by L’Autre Distribution, this album was produced by more than 500 fans. They received this album in in Spring 2013 as an early release, before public release in June 2013. The album is instrumental and is similar to previously released Life Is Elsewhere. The album name refers to Crozon Peninsula, and more precisely to the town of Camaret-sur-Mer, where Foster currently lives. PenInsular tracks are named after places in Camaret surroundings and disc publication code is QB29570, Camaret postcode.
