Richard Thieme

Richard Thieme is an author and professional speaker focused on the challenges posed by new technologies and the future, how to redesign ourselves to meet these challenges, and creativity in response to radical change. He has published four books: "Mind Games", "Islands in the Clickstream", "Fragile Network", and "Changing the Game".

Thieme speaks and writes about the ramifications of the digital future, the impact of technology on individuals and organizations, creativity, intelligence, and strategies for using technology more effectively.

He was a priest for the Episcopal Church from 1974 to 1997. He served at St. Paul's Church in Milwaukee from 1974 to 1977 and at St. Matthew's Church in Evanston, Illinois, from 1977 to 1987. Thieme graduated from the University of Chicago Divinity School and was ordained by the Rt. Rev. William Starr.

Thieme has taught in the School of Professional Studies at the University of Chicago, the Poynter Institute, and consulted full-time from 1997 to 2007. He taught "The Arts and Their Audiences," "Technology and Global Conflict," and "Understanding the Internet through Curtains" at the University of Washington's Department of Comparative Literature from 1998 to 2001.
