Luis Martinez is an American professional wrestler, better known by the ring name Punishment Martinez. He works for the Ring of Honor (ROH) promotion. Through ROH's working relationship with the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), Martinez also worked in Japan where he is called "Punisher Martinez".
Early life
Martinez learned Japanese Gōjū-ryū karate from his father, a skilled martial artist After winning two national championships in full-contact martial arts, Martinez decided to embark on a career in pro wrestling.
Professional wrestling career
Early career
Martinez trained at the Monster Factory he would make a name at the independent circuit winning several titles some in the Monster Factory Pro Wrestling.
Ring of Honor (2015-Present)
Early appearances (2015)
Martinez in 2014 entered in the Ring of Honor training camp and later trained at the ROH dojo. His first appearance at Ring of Honor was on 2015 by his real name Luis Martinez he made two dark matches the first losing to The Romantic Touch and the second when he and Shaheem Ali defeating Hellcat and Mattick.
Return to ROH (2016-Present)
Martinez would make his return in Ring of Honor this time as Punisher Martinez at the ROH Top Prospect Tournament defeating Colby Corino at the first round. Martinez lost to Lio Rush at the semifinals. However Martinez would be contract by Ring of Honor. Later he would align with BJ Whitmer and Kevin Sullivan and he then entered in a rivalry with Steve Corino. Later Martinez took part of the 2016 Honor Rumble, he had an impressive showing but he was eliminated. Later he would participate in the 2016 Survival of the Fittest and he ended up being eliminated at the finals in Six Man Mayhem match. Martinez later would enter in a short feud with the former ROH World Tag Team Champions War Machine (Hanson and Raymond Rowe). Martinez and Whitmer would wrestle War Machine in a no contest and then would defeat them in a anything goes match.
Through ROH's working relationship with the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), Martinez appeared at the two-day Honor Rising: Japan 2017 event. At the first night Martinez teamed up with Los Ingobernables de Japon members Hiromu Takahashi and Tetsuya Naito to defeat Dalton Castle, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Ryusuke Taguchi with Martinez picking up the win with his finisher the South Of Heaven. On the second night Martinez unsucessfully challenged Hirooki Goto for the NEVER Openweight Championship. Back in ROH Martinez would start to compete as Damian Martinez and also competed in a Manhattan Mayhem Battle Royal for the #1 Contendership of the ROH World Championship and he ended up losing and also entered in a Battle Royal for the #1 Contendership of the ROH World Television Championship and also ended up losing the match.On February 11, Martinez and B.J. Whitmer defeated War Machine, after the match Martinez turned on Whitmer by hitting him with South of Heaven.
