Biography
Peggy Dern, (1896-1966), was an American author, born Erolie Pearl Gaddis (later Erolie Pearl Gaddis Dern), who wrote under both Peggy Dern and Peggy Gaddis as well as Carolina Lee, and Georgia Craig, as well as Perry Lindsay, James Clayford, Gail Jordan and Joan Sherman.
Life
Born in Gaddistown, Georgia, Dern was educated at Reinhardt College, and edited periodicals in Atlanta. She married John Sherman Dern, a wandering minstrel, in 1931. She wrote approximately 3,000 words a day, six days a week for many years. She died in 1966 and was buried in Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tucker, Georgia.
