Biography

Paluta Badunova in 1923

Paluta Badunowa (Belarusian: Палута Бадунова;1885 – 1938) was a Belarusian educator and politician.

Badunova was born in Gomel and studied at Moscow University. She joined the Belarusian Socialist Assembly and served on its central committee in 1917. She was a member of the Rada of the Belarusian Democratic Republic. She served on the executive committee of the Belarusian Democratic Republic. She was arrested several times by Polish and Soviet authorities for her political activities. Baunova was a founder of the Belarusian Socialist Revolutionaries. When the Bolsheviks began to consolidate their power, she chose to go into exile. She later returned to Soviet-controlled Belarus and was arrested by the NKVD in 1937. She was executed in Minsk the following year.
