Biography

Park Ock-Soo or Ock Soo Park (1944 ~) is the founder of Good News Mission. He is currently the head pastor of the Good News Gangnam Church and is the advisor to the IYF.

Main Activities

Activities in South Korea

Bible Seminars in main cities, outreach in prisons, military bases, Mahanaim Cyber Theology School is the emphasized business. The Army Headquarters selected Pastor Ock Soo Park as an Excellent Education Lecturer. The main city Bible Seminars began with the Mugunghwa Hall located in Yeonjaegu, Busan in 1986. For the past 28 years, he has been preaching at seminar tours with titles such as ‘Forgiveness of Sin’ and ‘Life as a Christian.’ Also, he has founded the Gracias Music School and is managing it to cultivate musical talents. The Good News Mission also hosts "World Education Leaders Forums" with the city of Busan where chancellors and presidents of universities from around the world come together to discuss solutions to modern social problems with the youth

International Youth Fellowship

In 1995, a Korean-American young person was brought to South Korea and reformed. This served as an opportunity to found the International Youth Fellowship Incorporation (IYF). Since 2002, volunteers were dispatched overseas for Field Experience Learning. The overseas volunteering program was renamed as the Good News Corps in 2005 and has become an active volunteering program. Volunteers are given a designated training which is based on the Christian Mindset. Then they are sent to participating countries where they engage in mission work, free education, cultural exchange for their respective countries and its people for 11 months. Through this they grow global leadership, strong heart and humility. The number of Good News Corps volunteers increased from 11 (in 2001) to 600 (in 2008) to over 70 different countries. The Korean press claimed that IYF is cultivating civilian diplomats. IYF is operating an alternative school known as the Lincoln House School in Bucheon, East Seoul and 10 different cities of South Korea and they also host cultural events such as English Camp, English Speech Contest and World Culture Expos.

Activities outside of South Korea

He is the guest speaker at IYF World Camps, which are annually hosted in 30+ different nations, as well as Bible Crusades hosted in Manhattan, New York. Pastor Park’s sermon was featured in English on the LA Times and the New York Times (from 2006). Also, through Russian TBN broadcasting station his ‘Lectures on the book of Matthew’ are regularly broadcast in over 180 different countries. His Sunday sermons are translated real time in English, Chinese, and Spanish as it is broadcast live to 60 different countries. Also, in Kenya, Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting is happening through the Good News Broadcasting System (GBS) which was the very first broadcasting station set up by a foreigner in Kenya. It has not only been broadcasting sermons but spreading Korean culture. GBS won the special prize in 2010 in the KBS World Korean Broadcasting Awards sponsored by the Korean Foundation for press.
