Biography
Orlando Sinangote Murillo IV (born January 12, 1999), better known as Niel Murillo, is a Filipino singer and a member of the newest boyband sensation, BoybandPH. He made his debut as a singer with his band Migo Ta Bai who performed locally in Bogo, Cebu. He rose to fame when he joined and won the first ever Pinoy Boyband Superstar along with 4 other talented members Russell Reyes, Ford Valencia, Tristan Ramirez and Joao Constancia
Last January 2017, the boyband released their first self-titled album BoybandPH under Star Music. Their carrier single UNLI debuted number 1 on the Philippine Charts, that was then followed by Somebody (a cover of Depeche Mode), which also became number 1 on the Philippine Charts
Personal life
Orlando Sinangote Murillo IV in real life. 18 years old and fourth child in the brood of 8, to parents Orlando Murillo Jr. and Edwina Sinangote-Murillo.
A native of Bogo City Cebu, Niel started singing at a very young age and a favorite performer in his school. Triggered by the tragic accident when his older brother went blind in 2012, Murillo wanted to help his family financially.
Equipped with a good singing voice and natural charm, he decided to take his chances by joining Pinoy Boyband Superstar, a talent search in ABS-CBN. Together with four others, Niel wittingly worked his way up to stardom and dubbed as the first member of BoybandPH
Career
2016: Pinoy Boyband Superstar
In 2016, 17 year old Murillo auditioned for the first season of Pinoy Boyband Superstar. He became a crowd favorite as soon as he stepped the stage. He got an impressive 96% votes from the female audience advancing him to the next level where he wowed the judges with his own rendition of Sam Concepcion's Mahal na mahal. He then became an instant superstar hitting almost 5 million views on YouTube.
He continued to be selected onto its Top 7 grand finalist singing boyband hits such as Backstreetboys' I want it that way, One Direction's Best song ever and All-4-One's I swear with other aspirants.
In the finale, Murillo and his co-aspirant Russell Reyes performed Major Lazer's Cold Water where they received good comments from judges Yeng Constantino and Aga Mulach. He was the first winner to receive the highest combined scores from the judges' ratings and the number of text votes, beating out six other finalists of the talent show
He took home a talent management contract from Star Magic, a recording contract from Star Music, a Yamaha Mio motorcycle and all five winners received P1 million each from Yamaha and ABS-CBN.
2017–present: BoybandPH
Niel Murillo alongside with Russell Reyes, Ford Valencia, Tristan Ramirez & Joao Constancia, collectively known as the Filipino boyband group BoybandPH launched their first album January 28, 2017. The self-titled album features original songs like Unli, Boyfriend, Magmamahal, We made it and a cover of Depeche Mode's Somebody. There' s also a bonus acoustic track of Boyfriend. Two months after its official release, their self-titled album has sold more than 7,500 copies, reaching the Gold status.
Just last February they had an associated act with one of ABS-CBN divas Jona Viray with the song Till the end of time.
They are currently a mainstay act of ASAP, a noontime variety show in the Philippines.
