Merlin Bingham Swire

Merlin Bingham Swire (born 4 December 1973) is a British businessman. He is the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Swire Group. As the head of a major trading house, he is colloquially known in Hong Kong as a Tai-pan.

Merlin Bingham Swire was born in 1973. His late father, Sir Adrian Swire, was a billionaire heir and former chairman of the Swire Group. His mother is Lady Judith Compton. He has a brother who also works at Swire Group, Samuel Compton Swire.

He graduated from University College, Oxford in 1993, where he studied Classics.

Swire started his career at the family business, the Swire Group, in 1997. He worked for them in Hong Kong, Australia, China and London.

He is the CEO of the Swire Group. He is on the board of directors of Cathay Pacific, and HAECO. He has been a director of Swire Properties since January 2009.
