Marv Hagedorn

Marv Hagedorn (born March 2, 1956 in Omak, Washington) is a Republican Idaho State Representative since his appointment by Governor Butch Otter in January 2007 representing District 20 in the B seat.

Hagedorn attended Pensacola Junior College and the University of Maryland.

Senate Bill 1311 In 2015, Hagedorn supported a bill to tax hybrid owners an annual $75 fee. The fee was to make up for taxes not collected from the pump. After public outcry, in 2016 the Senate revisited the issue. SB 1311 was introduced to repeal the tax for hybrid owners citing that the technology had changed since the original bill and many non-hybrid card got as-good or better gas mileage than their hybrid counterparts (and thus unfairly penalizing hybrid owners). Hagedorn refused to step down from his position (to tax Hybrid owners), stating, “We made a good decision last year and I hope we stay with that decision. I appreciate that people want to be responsible and buy hybrids – they made a choice to do that.”

• 2012 Redistricted to District 14, and with Senator Chuck Winder redistricted to District 20, Hagedorn is seeking the district's senate seat; he won the three-way May 15, 2012, Republican primary with 1,988 votes (55.5%) against Stan Bastian and Gary Bauer, facing indendent candidate Al Shoushtarian for the general election on November 6, 2012.
• 2006 Hagedorn challenged incumbent Republican Representative Mark A. Snodgrass in the May 23, 2006 primary and lost, getting just over 40%.
• With the resignation of District 20 Republican Senator Gerry Sweet, seat B Representative Shirley McKague was appointed to the district's senate seat. Hagedorn was appointed to the B seat in January 2007 to fill the vacancy, serving alongside Snodgrass.
• 2008 Unopposed in the May 27, 2008, Republican primary, Hagedorn won with 2,915 votes and was unopposed for the November 4, 2008, general election, winning with 17,035 votes.
• 2010 Unopposed for the May 25, 2010, Republican primary, Hagedorn won with 3,907 votes and was unopposed for the November 2, 2010, general election, winning with 11,851 votes.
