Martie Salt

Martie Salt (born 1957) is an American news presenter and journalist based in Orlando, Florida. She is currently a news anchor for WFTV Channel 9, central Florida's ABC affiliate.

Martie is a graduate of Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida.

After graduation, she landed her first broadcasting job at a small radio station in Melbourne, Florida.

In 1979, she became a general assignment reporter at WESH-TV, an NBC-affiliated television station serving Orlando, Florida. In 1981, she joined WFTV, initially working in the same position, later being promoted to anchor the midday and 5:30pm news. In 1994, she was offered a position by former newscaster and anchor Bob Jordan to join the new-born news department of WFTS-TV in Tampa. She left WFTV and joined WFTS-TV, Tampa, becoming the presenter of the main evening news alongside Brendan McLaughlin until 2003.

In 2003, she moved back to Orlando and joined back WFTV, working as a news anchor for Channel 9 of WFTV. In around August 2015, she became the noon-time anchor with Vanessa Echols and the on-air ambassador for 9 Family Connection, the community service arm of the station. Her previous role was replaced by Martha Sugalski, a former WESH-Channel 2 anchor.

• Over the years, Salt interviewed numerous well-known personalities including Oprah Winfrey, Lucy and Arnold to Presidents Gerald Ford and George W. Bush.
• Named "Best Local TV Personality” twice by the readers of the Orlando Sentinel.
• In October 2017, Salt was nominated for EMMY for her work on "Blindsided: The Reality of Caring for Aging Parents, Part Two"
