Ludovika Franziska Maria "Lulu" Countess of Thuringia (14 March 1788 at Orlbeck Castle near Tirlemont, 22 May 1864 in Döbling) was an Austrian painter and writer.
Life
Ludovika Countess of Thuringia - called "Lulu" or "Lou" - grew up as a daughter of Josef Wenzel Count of Thuringia (1749-1808) and Luise Berghe of Trips (1759-1812) from the Austrian Netherlands, today's Belgium. In the run-up to the French Revolution, the family came to Vienna in 1794, where Lulu soon played an important social role. In 1832 she married Charles Thirion, the secretary of her brother-in-law Prince Andrei Kirillovich Rasumovsky.
She painted portraits and landscapes. Their letters, written in French, in which they describe, among other things, the Vienna Congress, are important as a source of cultural and social history in the Austrian period of restoration. Among their close acquaintances were the Greek freedom fighters Prince Alexander Ypsilantis and Ioannis Kapodistrias.
After Philipp von Blittersdorf (1869-1944), under the pseudonym René van Rhyn, published parts under the title Die Gesellschaft from 1910 (Book 1). After the records of Countess Luise Thürheim was published, in 1914 in book form. In the first two parts he edited a finished manuscript, the last two parts were composed of letters and diary entries.
