Linda Finnie is a Scottish mezzo-soprano.
Life and career
Finnie was born on 9 May 1952, in Scotland. She was educated at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
In 1974, she won the first prize at the International Ferrier Competition.
She made her debut in 1976 with Scottish Opera. She has been active ever since and has toured internationally to Europe, Australia, far east, and the U.S.A. In 1988, she also made an appearance at Bayreuth.
Her repertoire includes an enormous number of works: she has appeared at important concert halls, such as English National Opera, Covent Garden, Grand Opera, Geneva Opera, Frankfurt Opera, Opera of Flandria, Opera of Bayreuth.
She has sung with many orchestras, such as Symphonic Orchestra ORF, Berliner Symphoniker, Symphonic Orchestra of Munich, Symphonic Orchestra of Strasbourg, Symphonic Orchestra of Chehia, Symphonic Orchestra of Japan, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and with renowned conductors, including Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, A. Previn, Daniel Barenboim, Y. Temirkanov, Mariss Jansons.
