Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese (born 1980)is a screenwriter, cinematographer and experimental film director from Lesotho. He lives in Berlin.
Life
Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese was born and grew up in Hlotse. After studying Human Resources at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein he and a friend founded a production company, Vision 12, but struggled to make it financially viable. After returning to Lesotho, he made his first feature film Tears of Blood (2007). His short film Loss of innocence (2008) was shown at the Berlinale 2012.
In Behemoth (2016), a black and white short film, an itinerant preacher drags a coffin through the streets, shouting to people watching that their God is in the coffin. The film was selected in competition at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, and shown at the Experiments in Cinema film festival in 2018.
Mother, I Am Suffocating. This Is My Last Film About You is a documentary essay treating the filmmaker's personal exile from Lesotho.
In This Is Not a Burial, It's a Resurrection, a widow mourning the death of her son leads resistance to a dam which would destroy the village cemetery. It was presented in the Biennale College section of the 76th Venice International Film Festival.
