Laura Kina

Laura Kina is known for her work as an artist, scholar, and curator. She is particularly recognized for her contributions to the field of Asian American art and visual culture.

Laura Kina is a third generation Japanese American who was born and raised in Riverside, California. She has a mixed-race background, with her mother being of Okinawan and Korean descent, and her father being of Okinawan and Filipino descent.

Laura Kina's artistic style can be described as a combination of mixed-media painting, drawing, and collage. She often incorporates personal and historical narratives, as well as Asian and Asian American imagery, into her work.

Laura Kina holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College, a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a PhD in art history, theory, and criticism from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is currently a professor of art, media, and design at DePaul University.

Laura Kina has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Some notable exhibitions include: "Sugar & Snails: The Art of Laura Kina and Leslie Zeitl" at the A/P/A Institute at New York University, "Queens International 4" at the Queens Museum of Art in New York City, and "The Amazing Pepperina Show" at the Raw Space Gallery in Chicago.
