Biography
"Laufitu of Tonga" redirects here.
Laufitu was a Fijian chiefess.
It is likely that Laufitu Malani is a descendant of Laufitu.
Family
Laufitu was the first wife of Rasolo, who was the third Roko Sau of the Lau Islands and first Tui Nayau. They were the parents of Malani, the seventh Roko Sau.
Laufitu would have been the first to hold the title of and to be correctly referred to as Radini Nayau.
She was a daughter of the Chief (Lord) of Totoya and a Tongan woman of the Ha’a Gatatupu of Vavaʻu. She and her younger sister Radavu, mother of Taliai Tupou – eighth Roko Sau and third Tui Nayau, were sent as wives for Rasolo. It is from these two women that the two noble households of Vatuwaqa and Matailakeba claim descent.
