Biography
Kramer Morgenthau, A.S.C., is an American cinematographer, best known for his work in films such as Thor: The Dark World, Chef and Terminator Genisys. He was also director of photography for some episodes of television series such as Vegas, Game of Thrones, Sleepy Hollow, and Boardwalk Empire. He is a member of both the famous Morgenthau dynasty and the Lehman banking family.
Biography
Morgenthau was born to a Jewish family, the son of Ruth (née Schachter) and Henry Morgenthau III. His father was an author and television producer. His mother was professor of international politics at Brandeis University, an advisor to President Jimmy Carter on rural development in poor countries, and in 1988 ran unsuccessfully as a Democratic candidate for Congress in Rhode Island. His great-great-grandfather was businessman Mayer Lehman. He has one brother, Henry (Ben) Morgenthau (born 1964) and one sister, Sarah Elinor Morgenthau (born 1963). His grandfather was Henry Morgenthau Jr. the U.S. Treasury secretary during the Roosevelt administration; his great-grandfather, Henry Morgenthau, was the ambassador to the Ottoman Empire during World War I; his uncle is Robert M. Morgenthau, Manhattan district attorney for 35 years. He was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 2011, he married Tracy Fleischman in a Jewish ceremony at the former Cathedral of Saint Vibiana in Los Angeles.
