Biography
Annamalai (Tamil:அண்ணாமலை) is an Indian physiotherapist and researcher. He is chancellor at Gandhigram Rural Institute, Dindigul in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Early life
He was born in Melsivapuri in Pudukkottai district. His father is S. Kumarappan. He obtained his bachelor's degree (BPT) from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai and Master's degree in Cardiorespiratory Rehabilitation (MPT) from Chaudhary Charan Singh University. He enrolled in short term programs in various countries; namely Italy (facial workouts), United Kingdom (hydrotherapy), Germany (kinesiology), United States (craniosacral therapy, dry needle), and Paraguay (dynamic neutral stabilization).
Career
Annamalai leads the Physiotherapy department in Apollo Hospitals International in Ahmedabad and directs Alliance Physiosolutions. He worked as a physiotherapist for the Indian Cricket Team squad during the World Cup Tournament in 2011. He is a member of Indian Physiotherapy Association (IAP) and Health Professional Council (HPC) of United Kingdom. He is a Member of Board of studies at Charusat University in Changa, Gujarat, and an Ergonomist of Institutions such as the Indian Institute of Materials Management, ONGC, TCS, British Petroleum, Ultratech etc. He is an Honorary Advisor to Swarnim Gujarat Sports University, Gujarat.
Chancellor
Annamalai serves as Chancellor of Gandhigram Rural Institute, Dindigul beginning in 20 April 2017.
