Biography

Kinyumba "Kin" Mutakabbir (pronounced Muh-tah-kah-beer; born March 15, 1983) is an American actor and entrepreneur from Lawrenceville, Georgia. He is notable for playing Fenwick "Woody" Wood on the Cinemax network's Zane's The Jump Off.

Early life

Kinyumba Mutakabbir was born in New York City to parents of Jamaican heritage who owned a karate school. Growing up, Mutakabbir distinguished himself for his athletic ability and excelled at a number of sports including football, basketball and track. Mutakabbir also developed a strong passion for the arts, leading him to compete nationally in poetry and short story competitions.

Mutakabbir attended Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Georgia where he continued to play sports. His ability on the football field as a strong safety would eventually earn him a full football scholarship to Florida Atlantic University where he played as a Linebacker.

After graduation, Mutakabbir decided to stay in Florida in order to pursue a professional football career, however an Achilles tendon injury cut his career short and he moved back to Atlanta in order to focus on his acting career.

Acting career

After taking a improvisation and scene study classes, Mutakabbir began to land minor roles. His first important break came when he landed the lead in Keri Hilson's Turnin Me On music video and later landing a minor role in Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and I Can Do Bad By Myself. After moving to LA in order to further pursue his acting career, he landed several small roles in Entourage, Iron Man 3, and The Bold and the Beautiful.

In 2012 he landed the role of Woody in the Cinemax late night adult series Zane's The Jump Off, which follows the lives of five successful African American men from all sorts of backgrounds as it tells the stories of their everyday lives. The series premiered March 29, 2013 and ran for a whole season. Mutakabbir described Woody as a "loyal character" who "still has his own growing up to do".

Mutakabbir was also as the leadin Ben Ramsey's Black Salt, a live-action short film project based on the eponymous critically acclaimed comic book franchise.

Mutakabbir has also been featured in Aaaaagh! A Monster! and Front Seat Chronicles. In addition to acting, Mutakabbir owns a production company and is already working on his production Hell Bent, where he stars as special agent Damien Travers.

In his free time, Mutakabbir enjoys mentoring, working closely with the non-profit organization The Fulfillment Fund.

Personal life

Mutakabbir briefly dated Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Stewart in 2013.
