Kimberly Jonelle "Kimee" Balmilero (born 13 December 1979) is an American actress and singer of Hawaii.
Early life and education
Kimee Balmilero was born as Kimberly Jonelle Balmilero on December 13, 1979, in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Her father, Roy Balmilero, is also an actor who portrayed "Joseph Cunha" in a 2020 episode of TV series Hawaii Five-0.
Balmilero graduated from James B. Castle High School, home of the Castle Performing Arts Center on Oahu.
In high school, she worked on a dinner cruise, singing and dancing for the customers and was a member of 24VII Honolulu Dance Company.
Career
Balmilero left Hawaii at the age of 17 (the day after her high school graduation) and joined the 2nd National touring company of "Miss Saigon." After touring for almost three years she moved to San Francisco to study at Studio A.C.T. for six months.
She then moved to NYC and was part of the Original Broadway Cast of "Mamma Mia!" She has also appeared on “The Today Show”, “Live with Regis and Kelly”, “The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade” and has also performed on the famous stages of the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood & Radio City Music Hall in NYC.
In 2003, Balmilero joined the three-time Emmy nominated TV Series, "Hi-5" the American counterpart to the Australian kid's show Hi-5. As a member, she is the American counterpart of Sun Park (formerly Kathleen de Leon Jones, who is also of Filipino descent). In Hi-5, her segment is "Puzzles and Patterns", in which she figures out various solutions and solves problems. This segment teaches children problem-solving and math skills.
Balmilero currently lives in Los Angeles and performs sketch and improv with the comedy groups “Drug Puppy” and "Many Mumbling Mice" in such venues as Improv Olympic West, Upright Citizens Brigade, and Second City.
Balmilero also appeared as a contestant on the January 30, 2006 episode of The Price Is Right, in which she was among the first four contestants, but did not make it on stage.
In December 2006, Balmilero started a jewelry line called "Kimeejay."
Since 2012, she has been portraying the character of "Noelani Cunha" in the TV series Hawaii Five-0. In the February 2020 episode titled "Nalowale i ke 'ehu o he kai", her father Roy Balmilero also played her on-screen father, "Joseph Cunha".
Since 2018, she was also seen in the same character in Magnum P.I., with Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, and Zachary Knighton.
In 2019, Balmilero starred as "Maggie" in Zoe Eisenberg and Phillips Payson's comedy Stoke, starring Caitlin Holcombe and Kauhane Lopes.
