Biography

Kendra Erika (born August 12, 1993) is a singer, songwriter and recording artist from Southern Florida. Her song "Oasis" (released in late 2016) peaked at number 9 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart. Her most recent song "Under My Skin" also entered Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart in June 2017 and peaked at number 6. Both songs were cowritten and produced by Damon Sharpe and recorded in Los Angeles.

Kendra Erika is a classically trained vocalist and her training is evident in the Deep House remix of her song "Phantom of the Opera" (inspired by the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.)

Early Life

Kendra Erika Fulmer was born in Boca Raton, FL to parents Ingrid and Fred Fulmer. At an early age, Kendra found an interest in music and performance. At the age of 8, she began classical musical training and performing in local theaters like the Little Palm Family Theatre in Boca Raton, alongside Ariana Grande and Cameron Monaghan. She attended Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton, where she was involved in the drama, choral, and athletic departments. Kendra was also involved in varsity golf and played alongside LPGA professionals Morgan Pressel, Jaye Marie Green, and Lexi Thompson.

At age 13, she won first place at the Rotary Club Boca Raton's Future Star Competition singing Andrea Bocelli's "Time to Say Goodbye." The following year, she was a top finalist for performing Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" from The Phantom of the Opera. In 2010, she was named Boca Raton's Entertainer of the Year.

Kendra began her professional career as a teenager by singing jazz and pop music in local restaurants where she quickly learned that performing covers would not allow her to be the successful original artist she wanted to become. After recording her own music, which could be described as "bubblegum pop," including songs "Text Me," “Dance With You," and "Try To Go On," she opened up for Cody Simpson at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

As a teen, she attended a summer acting program in Los Angeles called "Talent Camp" where she performed alongside Jake Short (Ant Farm), singer Anna Margaret, Kira Kosarin, and Mitchel Musso. From there she was asked to go to New York City to model and be mentored by Karen Gee from (America's Next Top Model.) After a short period, Kendra decided to end her pursuit of modeling and complete her education at Saint Andrews School instead. She graduated Lynn University with a degree in Communications in Emerging Media and International Business.

Kendra developed a new sound during her college years inspired by Lana Del Rey, and Ellie Goulding. She released a song and video to her single "Dark Side" (written alongside Barry Gibb's producer, Lazaro Rodriguez) based on some of the negative aspects of the entertainment industry she witnessed at a young age. After college, Kendra moved to New York City, where she collaborated with Belgium songwriter Lynn Verlayne. Her nationally acclaimed songs "Hustler" and "Miami Love", were inspired by the Bond Girl image, and the vintage pop style of Lana Del Rey.

In 2015, Kendra sang the National Anthem at the Boca Raton Bowl.

Philanthropy

Throughout her musical career, Kendra has supported and performed for many charities locally and nationally: The Rotary Club of Boca Raton and The Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton, Tri-County Humane Society, The Boys and Girls Club, The Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and Recovery Unplugged, where she performed alongside Flo Rida, Tommy Gunz, Richie Supa and Morris Day.

She continues to reach out to young women, and the LGBTQ community through her music. In January 2017, she was awarded the Icon Award for the Florida Youth Pride Coalition.
