Juria Kawakami (川上 ジュリア, Kawakami Juria) (born December 13, 1993) is a Japanese singer that debuted under the Avex Trax label in 2009. Biography

Early life

Juria Kawakami was born and raised in Hokkaidō, Japan. At an early age, she was extremely shy. Worried about this, her mother urged her to take singing and dancing lessons. Soon she became very interested in singing, and her shyness was "cured."

Musical career

In 2006, Juria Kawakami competed for the second time in A-Motion, a talent contest run by Avex Trax, and was selected the Grand Prix winner out of over ten thousand other contestants. This gave her the opportunity to receive vocal and dance training and debut under the Avex Trax label. She had previously participated in A-Motion 2005, but did not win. Kawakami officially debuted as Jurian Beat Crisis at A-Nation 2009, a yearly summer concert where various popular artists signed under Avex Trax perform, and sang her debut single "Go! Let's Go!"

Prior to her debut, Kawakami planned on releasing one digital single per month for twelve months, with a plan to release a debut physical album after the twelve singles. In 2009, she released "Go! Let's Go!," "Hurricane Love," "Lonely Flight," and "Aitai yo... Love You" in September, October, November, and December respectively. For 2010, she released "Flying Rabbit" on January 27, "Sakura Mau" on February 17, "Mō Ichido..." on March 17, "Brightest Way" on April 7, "Sōda-mi no Kiss" on May 19, "Namida no Naka Kimi o Mitsuke Ta" on June 16, and "Hāto no bakudan" on July 7. She released her twelfth single "Ima Sugu Kiss Me" on August 11. Her debut physical album, self-titled Jurian Beat Crisis, was released on September 1, 2010.

Musical style

The songs of Jurian Beat Crisis usually appeals to a junior high and high school audience. All songs are produced by Maki Watase and Tatsuya Hirakawa, both members of the Japanese band Lindberg.
