Biography
Julius BALBIN naskiĝis en 1917 al juda familio en Krakovo, Pollando; mortis la 14-an de julio 2006 en Aye (Marche-en-Famenne), Belgio, estis esperantisto kaj poeto, longe vivinta en Pollando kaj en Usono.
Balbin travivis kvar koncentrejojn dum la dua mondmilito. En 1950 li doktoriĝis pri filozofio en Vieno. De 1951 ĝis 2005 li vivis en Usono. Ekde 1963 li verkis poemojn, ĉefe pri la Holokaŭsto, kaj tradukis el ok lingvoj. Li ankaŭ publikigis artikolojn pri esperantologiaj temoj.
Li estis dumviva membro de UEA, fakdelegito pri interlingvistiko kaj literaturo, membro de Akademio de Esperanto inter 1995 kaj 2004.
