Biography
Yang Berhormat Dato' Murshid Diraja Dr. Juanda Jaya is a Malaysian politician. He is of Melanau descent. He was the former Mufti of Perlis and was supposed to be in office from 2009 to 2011. On 1 October 2009, he started to take a leave on the 30 of September 2009. He was also a visiting scholar for Oxford University for 10 month starting from 5 October 2009.
Political career
Rumor as opposition candidate in the 13th General Election
PKR Chairman Mohd Faisol Abdul Rahman, stated that Dr. Juanda Jaya will be the candidate for Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) for the upcoming General Election-13. However, the claim was strongly refuted by him and he never contested in the 13th General Election.
2016 Sarawak State election
In the 2016 Sarawak state election, he was chosen as the Barisan Nasional candidate for the N44 Jemoreng constituency, as the incumbent and Political Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sarawak, Abu Seman Jahwie wished not to be re-nominated due to health reason. And he was later chosen as the new assemblymen, beating independent candidate Abdullah Saminan and Amanah candidate Kiprawi Suhaili with 3,789 votes.
