Biography

John Joe Doherty is an Irish former sportsperson and manager. He played Gaelic football with Donegal and was a member of the team which won its first All-Ireland senior title in 1992. Doherty was selected as an All Star in 1993. He played his club football with his local club Naomh Columba.

In November 2008, following the resignation of the previous manager Brian McIver, Doherty was confirmed as the new Donegal senior manager. The decision to appoint him was contentious. Doherty resigned after a disastrous 2010 season; Jim McGuinness replaced him one month later.
