Joel Nagel

Attorney Joel Nagel is the managing partner and founder of Nagel & Associates, LLC, a boutique law firm that specializes in international corporate strategy and legal structures. He is well-known in the field of international law as an expert in asset management and overseas retirement investments. Nagel is also Chairman of Caye International Bank in Belize.
 

Early Life and Education

Nagel was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended Allegheny College, where he completed undergraduate degrees in Political Science and German. He then received his law degree (JD) from West Virginia University and went on to complete his LLM degree at Georgetown University of Law. Nagel was also a Fulbright Scholar, studying at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn, Germany and at The Hague Academy of International Law.
 

Early Career

Before Joel Nagel founded his own law firm, he worked at the U.S. Department of Commerce at the Office of the Chief Counsel for International Commerce. Due to his fluency in German, he was appointed as a law clerk at the Commission of the European Communities in Brussels. He launched his legal career by working for Buchanan Ingersoll and then established Nagel & Associates, LLC in Sewickley, Pennsylvania.

Nagel & Associates, LLC is a boutique law firm that focuses on private international law. Most of the firm's work involves commercial transactions, business strategy, and asset protection. Joel Nagel’s expertise is in tax relief, asset protection, estate planning, retirement investments, and commercial joint ventures. He created a Personal Asset Protection Program for his firm's clients as well as a sophisticated international estate plan that covers international insurance products, foundations, trusts, corporations, and more. Caye International Bank

Attorney Joel Nagel also serves as chairman of Caye International Bank, a private bank in Belize that caters to international clients. Caye has received numerous awards in recognition of its excellence, including being named Best Offshore Private Bank in Latin America in 2019 by Wealth and Finance International, Most Outstanding Offshore Bank in Central America in 2018, and Best Private Bank in Belize for three years in a row.

Nagel is a proponent of international banking because of the privacy and stability that it affords clients. Other Projects

Attorney Joel Nagel was instrumental in securing and structuring two resort complexes, one in Nicaragua and the other in Belize. The resorts are geared toward U.S. retirees and seniors who want to make the most of their retirement investments. Nagel was also the force behind the successful implementation of the first Central American and African motorbus distribution facilities for an American-based bus line.

In addition, Nagel has also served as a diplomat to the United Nations Office at Vienna and as a representative of Belizean interests in various European countries. He has served on the boards of over 20 companies and advises dozens of financial institutions, including banks, mutual and hedge funds, and insurance companies.

The U.S. News & World Report has quoted him as an expert in the sphere of retiring abroad, while Forbes Magazine published an article about his views on asset protection in its Billionaire’s edition.

Home Life and Philanthropy

Attorney Joel Nagel lives in Sewickley, Pennsylvania with his wife, Dr. Susan E. Nagel, and their seven children. As part of his commitment to giving back to the communities in which he works, Nagel sets aside time for public service for the government of Belize. He also works on behalf of his local community and underprivileged communities abroad through Rotary International. He has served as President of the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh, spearheading a fundraising campaign to buy land and build three health clinics in Nicaragua. He has also served as district governor for the Rotary Clubs of Western Pennsylvania and as Rotary International’s President’s Representative.
