Biography

Joseph "Joe" Boyle is a competitive runner, former runner and a athletics coach. He is currently head coach of the Texas Running Club of the USA Track & Field. Athletes that he has coached in the past include Mel Pender and Charles Greene both World record holders and Olympic Gold Medalists.

Early years

He started running as a freshman because he was being chased by the bigger kids 1960 at Pierson High School, Sag Harbor, LI, NY. Won the Suffolk County Cross Country Championship 1964. A history teacher Mr. White convinced him to join the cross country team as a Freshman in High School. Coach Pietre and Coach Vishno basketball coaches encouraged XC as conditioning for basketball. Later Coach UTZ took over as XC coach and further motivated me to excel. Principal Mr. Crozier, along with Coach UTZ gave him support and encouragement to run indoor and outdoor track races, expand my education and, as a result, I was able to go on the college.

He organized the Texas Running Center for the purpose of promoting the running lifestyle to members of the community that I live with. My way of giving back. In addition I continue to compete on the senior level and coach runners of all levels. My way of continuing to refine my training methods and maintaining physical and mental fitness.
