Jane Snowden (born January 31, 1965) is a British film and television actress, best known for portraying the character of Emily Whitbread in the television series Wish Me Luck.
Early life
Jane Snowden was born Jane Louise Snowden on January 31, 1965, in York, Yorkshire, England.
Career
Snowden made her acting debut in 1985, appearing as "Jenny," one of the lead roles, in Brian Gilbert-directed romance/comedy film The Frog Prince. The film, an adaptation of the 1985 book by the same name by Nina Rootes, had Norwegian actor Øystein Wiik and French actor Alexandre Sterling in the lead roles, alongside Snowden.
The following year she was seen playing the role of "Deborah" in the television series All Passion Spent. The same year she was seen as "Jenny" in the comedy film The Pyrates, a dramatization of George Macdonald Fraser's book by the same name (published in 1983.) In the film, she played the lead opposite Marcus Gilbert.
In 1989, Snowden landed her most memorable role, the recurring character of "Emily Whitbread," in the war/drama TV series Wish Me Luck, created by Jill Hyem and Lavinia Warner. Her character comes in the spotlight in the second and the third seasons when she goes through some tough decisions to adapt to the challenging realities of war.
In 1992, Snowden was seen in the episode "The Death of the Self" of the TV drama Inspector Morse, and then in 1999, in the "Private Lives" episode of A Touch of Frost.
Most recently, she finished filming for Theo Miller-directed short Beyond the Realm. She appears alongside Thea Ireland, John Lloyd Fillingham, and Texas Watterston. The release date is yet to be announced.
