Biography
Jacob Clemente (born April 12, 1997) in North Greenbush, New York is an American actor and dancer. He best known for his portrayal of "Billy" in the Broadway production of Billy Elliot the Musical.
Early career
At the age of seven Jacob Clemente began his study of dance in Colonie, New York at The World of Dance.
Clemente appeared in multiple regional theatre productions in his early career. These productions include Toy Camp, The Music Man, High School Musical on Stage!, and Seussical.
During this time Clemente participated in multiple dance competitions including with The New York City Dance Alliance(NYCDA).
Gypsy (2008 Revival)
In 2008, Clemente auditioned for the revival production of Gypsy, starring Patti Lupone. On September 2 of the same year, he became a replacement in the cast as a "Boy Scout."
Clemente's role in the 2008 revival of Gypsy marked his Broadway debut at the age of 11.
He remained with the show until it closed on January 11, 2009.
Billy Elliot
After auditioning for Billy Elliot the Musical, Clemente appeared in the Broadway production as the "Tall/Posh Boy" as well as being the understudy for "Michael."
Notably, Clemente performed in the role of "Tall/Posh Boy" on October 3, 2009 (his second performance in the role), which was the final performance of Tony Award winning Broadway preview night Billy: Kiril Kulish.
On April 3, 2010 Clemente became the 9th actor to play the role of "Billy" in the Broadway production of Billy Elliot the Musical.
Jacob performed in the role of "Billy" for the final time on July 3, 2011.
Trevor Project
In 2010, Clemente participated with other Broadway stars in recording the song "It Gets Better." This recording was done to benefit the Trevor Project. The song was released on iTunes October 19, 2010.
Education
Clemente had attended Columbia High School in East Greenbush, New York. He had attended for all 4 years and graduated in 2015. Subsequently, in 2015, Clemente began attending Yale College, where he is double-majoring in history and economics. He is a member of many performing groups on campus, including the Yale Alley Cats, a world-renowned all-male a cappella group.
