Ike Perkins (June 30, 1912 — March 29, 1966) was an American Jazz/Blues/Rhythm n' Blues guitarist.
Life and career
Ike Perkins was born Ellsworth Perkins on June 30, 1912, in St. Louis, Missouri.
In the mid-1930s, he played with Albert Ammons & His Rhythm Kings alongside Jack Cooley (drums/vocals) and Israel Crosby (bass), on at least two tracks, "Swanee River Boogie" and "Mile-Or-Mo Bird Rag."
In the years that followed, he also worked with Big Joe Turner, Red Saunders, Bunky Redding, Joe Robichaux, Memphis Slim, Gene Ammons, and Joe Williams. With his studio band, he accompanied the singer Helda Dupuy (Ridin 'with the Blues, United 1955).
Under his own name, Perkins recorded several singles for the record labels CJ Records, Colt, and Flame (album "Organism", with Clark Terry, Lonnie Simmons (org), Red Callender).
According to the discographer Tom Lord, Perkins was involved in 31 recording sessions between 1936 and 1955.

Death
Perkins died on March 29, 1966, at the age of 53. He was still active in music into the early 1960s, but by the time of his death, he was working as a mail clerk with an insurance company.
