Biography
Harold R. DeMoss Jr. (born December 30, 1930) is a former judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He was appointed to the court in 1991 by President George H. W. Bush.
DeMoss graduated from Rice University in 1952 and the University of Texas Law School in 1955. After serving in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957, he joined the Houston law firm Bracewell & Patterson, where he became a partner and remained until his appointment to the bench. In 1988, he took a six-month sabbatical from the firm to work on the campaign of the first President Bush. He assumed senior status on July 1, 2007. He retired from active service on April 16, 2015.
