Biography
Gosha Rubchinskiy is a Russian fashion designer and photographer and the founder of his namesake brand Gosha Rubchinskiy (ГОША РУБЧИНСКИЙ) Growing up in Moscow in post-Soviet Russian society, Rubchinskiy constantly takes inspiration from the fall of the Iron Curtain, Russian street and youth culture, and his experiences to create his collections. Also a photographer, Rubchinskiy wanted to work in fashion at a young age, and in college began hairdressing and makeup, which put him in the fashion circles of Russia.
He learned and work for a few years before he met a group of young skateboarders who inspired him to begin his first label called Aglec in 2008, which released its first collection for the 2009 Spring/Summer season. As creative director, Rubchinskiy takes on wide-ranging duties from designing the clothes, to photographing the campaigns and casting the models. He also creates a fanzine for the label. The label continually showcases daily Russian life with Rubchinskiy’s videos, and his brand ethos is a look into Russia post-communism and the burgeoning youth culture of the country.
