Gerardo Espíndola Rojas is a Chilean newspaper editorand Chilean politician, militant of the Liberal Party of Chile (2013). Since December 6, 2016, he is mayor of Arica .
He was one of the founders of the daily newspaper El Morrocotudo , icon of the new media of the web 2.0. The newspaper was founded on Tuesday, September 13, 2005. The year 2007 assumes the coordination of expansion of similar new media in different cities of Chile. Espíndola assumes as manager of Products and Media of the company Mi VOZ, until the year 2015.
In April of the year 2016 announces its candidacy like mayor of Arica 5 by the Liberal Party of Chile. It is registered in July of the same year within the Democratic Alternative Pact (Chile). He wins the Municipal Elections of 2016 obtains the 24,52% of the votes, being chosen mayor of Arica. It becomes the first Liberal mayor of the commune.
In an act performed at the foot of the Morro de Arica, Gerardo Espíndola assumes as mayor of Arica the 6 of December of 2016.
