Biography

George John Kindel (March 2, 1855 – February 28, 1930) was a U.S. Representative from Colorado.

Biography

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kindel attended the public schools and St. Augustine's School in Cincinnati. Apprenticed as an upholsterer and mattress maker in 1871. He moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1877 and engaged in the upholstery and mattress business and later in the bedding and furniture business. He served as a member of the board of supervisors of the city and county of Denver 1910-1914.

Kindel was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress (March 4, 1913-March 3, 1915). He did not seek renomination in 1914, but was an unsuccessful Independent candidate for election to the United States Senate in 1914. He resumed his former business pursuits. He was in an automobile accident near Hillrose, Colorado, which resulted in his death in Brush, Colorado, on February 28, 1930. He was interred in Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
