Biography
Frances Sorrell, Lady Sorrell, is a British designer and businesswoman.
Born Frances Newell, she is married to Sir John Sorrell, with whom she founded and ran the design business Newell and Sorrell, later Interbrand Newell & Sorrell until 2000.She was Chair of the Interbrand Foundation.
In 1999, they set up the Sorrell Foundation which supports creative arts activities for young people.
Frances is a Visiting Professor at the University of the Arts, London and a Member of the British Council Design Advisory Group.
Honours and awards
She is an Honorary Fellow of University College Falmouth. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
In 2010 she was presented with an Honorary Doctorate from the Open University for an `Exceptional Contribution to Education and Culture’.
In 2011, Lady Sorrell was made a Fellow of Hereford College of Artsand in June 2015, she was appointed Chancellor of the University of Westminster.
In 2016, she was made an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
