Biography

Edmond Gustave Camus (1852 – 22 August 1915) was a French pharmacist and botanist known for his work with orchids.
A pharmacist by vocation, he was a resident of L'Isle-Adam, a community near Paris. He was the father of botanist Aimée Antoinette Camus (1879–1965), with whom he collaborated on several projects. For a period of time, he served as vice-president of the Société botanique de France.
As a taxonomist, he was the binomial authority of many species, most notably within the family Orchidaceae. With Aimée Camus, he described numerous species from the family Salicaceae.
