Biography

Dayro Mauricio Moreno Galindo (born 16 September 1985 in Chicoral, Tolima, Colombia) is a Colombian footballer currently playing as a forward for Atlético Nacional on loan from Xolos de Tijuana.

Club career

Once Caldas

Dayro Moreno won the Copa Libertadores 2004 with Once Caldas beating Boca Juniors in the final. That same year he played the Intercontinental Cup final with Once Caldas, which lost the game after a penalty shoot-out against UEFA Champions League winners FC Porto.

In the summer of 2007 there were rumors and subsequent offers for Dayro to play in the Croatian league. But hearing Boca Juniors had interest in him, and demanding too much from the Croatians, the deal was cancelled and in 2007 he resumed play for Caldas.

In January 2008, after an outstanding season with Once Caldas, and a legendary performance against Argentina in the South American Qualifiers where he scored the game-winning goal (2–1), he joined Romanian team Steaua București, playing alongside Colombians Róbinson Zapata and Pepe Moreno, who were part of the team at the time.

Steaua paid a fee of US$2 million for him.

In 2009–10, Dayro was demoted to the B squad. He agreed to play for the second team until he was prepared to come back to the first squad.

In October 2009, following a series of good games for the B squad he was called back to the first team by the new Steaua manager, Stoichiță.

Once Caldas

On 24 January 2010, he returned to Once Caldas for a fee around $500,000. In the summer of 2011 he was linked to a transfer to Portugal's Sporting Lisbon, but the deal was canceled after he was offered a lower wage than he requested.

Club Tijuana

On June 2, 2011, it was announced that Moreno would move to Mexican team Xoloitzcuintles de Tijuana for a fee of US$3.5 million. He will play for Club Tijuana for the next three seasons.

On 1 February 2012, he rejoined Once Caldas after rejecting a $400,000 offer from Universidad de Chile.

Junior de Barranquilla

He then joined Junior late July to play the second part of the Colombian tournament.

Millonarios FC

In July 2013, the Ascenso MX side Correcaminos UAT announced that Moreno would join them the upcoming season. However, Moreno then changed his mind and moved to Millonarios Futbol Club after stating that he did not wanted to join a Second Division side.

Club Tijuana

In 2013, after returning from Xolos of Tijuana, he signed with Millonarios Futbol Club in the second semester to the Colombian league.

International career

Dayro played for the Colombia national football team U20 squad, where he shined. He currently has 17 caps in the Colombian national football team and has scored 3 goals.
