Biography
Guan Hong(Chinese: 官鴻; pinyin: Guān Hóng, born 15 January 1995), also known as Darren Chen, is a Taiwanese actor. He is best known for his leading role as Hua Ze Lei in the 2018 television series Meteor Garden, which propelled him to fame in Asia.
Early life and education
Darren Chen was born on January 15, 1995 in Taiwan. He graduated from the Taipei Municipal Heping High School.
Career
2016–2017: Beginnings
Chen made his acting debut as Lin Yutang in the Chinese television series Proud of Love (2016) and Proud of Love 2 (2017).
In 2017, he was cast in the role of Huaze Lei by Angie Chai in the 2018 adaptation of Meteor Garden. He appeared in Harper's Bazaar China with his Meteor Garden costars Dylan Wang, Connor Leong, and Caesar Wu in the November issue.
2018–present: Rising popularity
Chen rose to fame with his role as Huaze Lei in the 2018 television series Meteor Garden, the remake of popular Taiwanese drama series Meteor Garden and based on the Japanese shōjo manga series Boys Over Flowers (花より男子, Hana Yori Dango) written by Yoko Kamio. The same year, he was confirmed to make his big screen debut in the romance comedy film Xx Love.
In 2019, Chen was cast in his first leading role in the historical mystery drama The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty, produced by Jackie Chan.
