Biography

Cully Holland (22 October 1957 - 29 July 1991) was an American actor. He is known for his appearance opposite Aimee Mann in the music video for "Voices Carry" and for his roles in Dirty Love (1988) and Warbirds (1989.)

Early life

Cully Holland was born Kevin Joseph Gallery on 22 October 1957 in San Francisco, California to Daniel Sr. and Sally Gallerych. He had four brothers and a sister.

Holland once was an all-state football player, however he gave up the sport to study accounting at the University of Washington in Seattle. While a student, he entered the modeling and acting world by accident and decided to drop out of college and move to New York to pursue a career in show-business.

Career

Cully Holland started off his acting career performing on stage. In 1982, aged 25, he played the main role of "Denver" in Matt Creeger's comedy/drama play Naked Highway. The play was directed by Tim Kincaid (credited under his screen-name Joe Gage.)

In 1985 he was seen portraying Aimee Mann's aggressive partner in the music video for her new wave band 'Til Tuesday's hit single Voices Carry. He appeared alongside Aimee Mann (vocalist,) Michael Hausman (drummer,) Robert Holmes (guitarist,) and Joey Pesce (keyboardist.) The song spent 13 weeks on the Billboard chart and peaked at number 8.

Holland then moved to Los Angeles and performed in a play titled "Vera Baxter" at Off Main Theatre in Santa Monica, in 1988. The play was based on a 1977 novel by French writer Marguerite Duras. Holland played one of the lovers of the titular character, Vera Baxter. The same year, he made his film debut, playing the role of "Robert" in Italian director Joe D'Amato's film Dirty Love. The film was produced in Italy and Holland appeared alongside Jeff Stryker and Valentine Demy.

In 1989, Holland was seen as "Marine Vince Costello" in Ulli Lommel-directed action film Warbirds. He was one of the two leads alongside James Eldert. In November 1989, he was seen in "The Cleveland Indian" episode of NBC's television series Hardball.
